This One's Personal
Some News You Can Use from Shelby Center
If you could bring only one thing to the house of God, what would it be? What if you knew that security was so tight that whatever you bring would be revealed before you entered?
Would that change your choice?
What do you bring when you come to the house of God? When you think of coming to the house of God, do you think about church on Sunday or prayer?
Would either of those change the one thing you bring?
Sometimes getting through to God in prayer can be frustrated by security. When we need God urgently, we may be turned away at the door because of what we were seeking to carry into God’s house.
Well, what one thing did David bring to the house of God when things got personal, and he knew security was tight? A clean heart. And it started with a committed “morning routine” (From Psalm 5:1-12):
1. (1-6). My voice shalt thou hear. Be consistent, don’t conceal. While others are delayed you can get thru to God with commitment to prayer and never concealing sinful behavior (Psa. 66:16-19, Isa. 59:1-2).
It has been said, when your enemy is making a mistake don’t intervene. Know what God hates and stay away (Pro. 6:16-19). There is no sanctified sin that earns God’s favor. Sinning saints beware!
2. (7-10). But as for me! This one’s personal. He is no fool who fears God and lives honestly in His presence evening, morning, and at noon (Psa. 55:12-19, 16). To enjoy God’s leading stay in the light.
While some wallow in iniquity and are kept from God, the wise walk with integrity into God’s presence (Psa. 17:15, 26:11, 41:12).
You cannot worship when you’re doing wickedly. It’s never safe to sin!
· It got personal for Samuel who felt more productive praying and pointing those who let him down to greater service and reverence for God than rubbing their faces in failure (1 Sam. 12:20-24).
· It got personal when Joshua made his decision to serve God with his house instead of making it their ministry to malign and harass others who seek to serve the Lord (Josh. 24:15).
· It got personal for David when he decided to build God’s house instead of breaking it apart resting in the joy of others benefitting from his investment and involvement (1 Chr. 28:2, 29:17).
· It gets personal when you join the psalmist in earnest desire and pray daily, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10).
"Keep back they servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me: Then shall I be upright, And I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength and my redeemer” (Psalm 19:13-14). And Psalm 139:23-24!
3. (11-12). For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous. No matter what others are doing or saying, do right and give the rest to God. Make a visit to the house of God your daily routine and enjoy His defense.
You too can trust God to handle the wickedness that others are saying or doing, live with integrity, and find that the joy of the Lord is your strength, and song, and surrounding (Psa. 118:8-9, 13-14).
What will you bring to the house of God? If you desire God’s favor and wish to avoid the delay at the door, make sure you bring a clean heart in a committed routine evening, morning and at noon.
Leave your enemies to God and enjoy His favor by keeping nothing concealed and staying clean. As for me, this one’s personal.
I’ll start, continue, and end each day in devotion to Him whom I owe everything: Jesus. Would you do the same? May He surround you with His grace and love as you too enjoy His house.
